In the quarter-long Grade 6 ART course, we will be developing our observational skills through drawing and sketching, creating original works of art from observation and imagination, working two-dimensionally and three-dimensionally, interacting with historical and contemporary works of art and artists, and experimenting with mixed media methods from cultural artistic practice. Every session we will use our sketchbooks in class and at home to record observations, make studies, thumbnail sketches, write notes, and reflect upon what we learned and why it is important to us. Most of us, we will think about our thinking about the visible world and the one created by our own imagination.

Welcome to the music program here at ISK!

This class is a study of general music focused on percussion playing.  The students will study form, rhythms, styles, timbre, composition, researched projects, dynamics and other musical concepts in drum music.  The class styles will range from Kenyan, Indian, Japanese and American drumline percussion playing.  The students will learn from local artists, compose and perform pieces, and hopefully become excited about world percussion music.
